?What is terrorism

Terrorism is the use of violence or the threat of violence to achieve specific political or social goals. Terrorists typically target innocent civilians to create fear and panic in societies. The goals of terrorism can vary from seeking political changes to intimidating populations and impacting economies, disrupting daily life. Terrorism poses a significant challenge to national security and global stability, necessitating international collaborative efforts to confront and combat it.

And after terrorism invaded our homeland in 2016 and brought chaos and destruction to the lands of our beloved country, the people of this country came together to fight and eliminate these extremist organizations.

That’s where the idea of Department of Counter Terrorism and Extremist Organizations came from , its a government agency affiliated with the Libyan state, dedicated to combating terrorism and extremist organizations within Libya. Established in the aftermath of terrorism’s invasion of Libya in 2016, our organization emerged from the collective resolve of the Libyan people to confront and eliminate these threats. Recognizing the urgent need for a specialized entity to address the challenges posed by terrorism and extremism, our Department was founded to safeguard the nation’s security and stability. With a commitment to proactive measures, strategic intelligence, and collaborative efforts, we strive to protect our communities and ensure a peaceful future for all Libyans.
